I'm not knocking the Tree collet system, like I said I own a 2UVR. My Machine Tool mill uses #9 BS which also work just fine for me, although they don't release from the spindle as easily as R8's. Machine tool makers pushed for standard tooling systems years ago, hence 40 and 50 taper tooling for bigger machines.

Yes, Tree milling machines were made at Tree Tool And Die Works, in Racine Wisconsin. I have a Model 2UVRC in my garage that has power feeds on X, Y Z and variable spindle speeds.
